Optically
pumped magnetometers use
gaseous alkali metals from the first column of the
periodic table, such as Cesium and Potassium.
GEM focuses its development on Potassium to maximize
sensitivity and minimize heading errors. It also offers
additional advantages, including decreased maintenance
costs and enhanced robustness, over Cesium alternatives.
