AirBIRD & AirGRAD UAV Systems

The AirBIRD

The AirBIRD is a turnkey light-weight towed-bird magnetometer system designed specifically for UAVs. This system has everything needed to carry out high precision magnetometer surveys from an UAV.

The AirBIRD weighs 3.5 kg and therefore is suitable for medium and larger quadcopters and helicopter UAVs. The recommended minimum airspeed is 10 m/s. The system is designed to simply be attached to an appropriate UAV for immediate survey operations.

GEM System’s AirBIRD in Niagara, Canada.

As well as providing high quality magnetic data, the AirBIRD records and stores additional flight parameters. Altitude, GPS location, Pitch, Roll, Yaw, and Satellite information can all be transmitted in real time to the ground station and displayed with GEMDAS, our custom data acquisition software. The GEMDAS software features include Multi-Window display of mag data and flight parameters, 3D Graphic Attitude display, and Integration with Google Earth.

This turnkey solution is designed for ease of use. All parameters are sent in real time to the ground station through a radio link wireless transfer. The complete system is operational non stop for 1.5 hour default. Increasing flight time will result in increase of total weight.

The AirBIRD can be purchased as a standalone instrument or complete with an appropriate UAV to be a complete survey system.

The AirBIRD UAV System includes:
