Overhauser Magnetometers

Want the power of the latest technology in magnetics without the price? The solution that you are looking for is here today … the state-of-the-art Overhauser magnetometer / gradiometer. The GSM-19 delivers all of the advantages of optically pumped magnetometers and gradiometers plus the parameters that are of priority to you as a user of magnetics data … high quality data, cost control and ruggedness.

Finally – A State-of-the-Art Magnetometer / Gradiometer that Delivers on Data Quality, Cost Control and Robustness

The “Walking”, “Mobile” and “Base” Overhauser magnetometer and gradiometer family offers you proven choices based on the physics of each method; sensitivities and gradient tolerance; physical parameters including sampling rates; and affordability. All are backed by our industry-leading two year warranty.

With such a large family of magnetometer systems available, it can be difficult to make a choice. We’d like to help by providing you with a three-step process you can use to make an informed decision. Simply follow the steps below:

Step 1: Select By Your Application

The first step to purchasing an Overhauser magnetometer is to be certain the unit you choose will be best suited to your particular needs.

a) I’m primarily interested in high sensitivity, nearly continuous surveys

Overhauser “Walking” system is your most logical choice.

b) I’m primarily interested in high sensitivity, discrete surveys

Overhauser  Mobile” system is your most logical choice.

c) I’m primarily interested in repeatable, accurate base station readings

Overhauser “Base Station” system is your most logical choice.

Step 2: Discover More About Your Choice                                         TOP

The second step to making a wise decision is to get some background information that summarizes the key points you need to know about your choice of magnetometer. In order to help you we’ve written a short tip sheet you can download immediately.

While you’re here, you can also download product and technical information. If you have any questions, please call us at +1-905-764-8008.

a) Overhauser “Walking” Magnetometer / Gradiometer               TOP

A walking magnetometer / gradiometer is a high-sampling system capable of acquiring nearly continuous data. Key features are related to data quality, cost control and productivity as follows:

  • 0.022 pt / ÖHz sensitivity  for high sensitivity data acquisition

  • 5 samples per second acquisition for higher productivity (either by operator or on towed vehicles) and more data for decision-making

  • Ergonomic backpack and hands-free operation for greater operator ease-of-use and productivity

b) Overhauser “Mobile” Magnetometer / Gradiometer                TOP

A mobile magnetometer / gradiometer is a high sensitivity system capable of acquiring data at discrete stations. Key features are related to data quality, cost control and productivity as follows:

  • 0.022 pt / ÖHz sensitivity  for high sensitivity data acquisition

  • Discrete data acquisition with sensor staff for routine application in various types of environments and terrains

  • All of the other features of “Walking” Overhauser magnetometers, including low weight for highly efficient operator functioning

c) Overhauser “Base” Magnetometer                                             TOP

A base magnetometer is a high sensitivity system capable of acquiring data at a regular interval throughout the day. Depending on the sampling requirements, it can be either a “Walking” / Fast sampling unit (up to 5 Hz) or a Standard sampling unit (up to 0.33 Hz). Key features are related to data quality, cost control and productivity as follows:

  •  The Overhauser base magnetometer has a high absolute accuracy. GEM is the global standard in Observatory magnetometers for this reason; the base magnetometer produces highly repeatable data as required in industry.

  • Three Base station programming modes are available for maximum productivity. These include daily (define working hours and minutes each day); flexible (up to 30 on / off periods) and immediate start.

Using either daily or flexible modes means that the operator is not required to return to the base station each day; data can be acquired with maximum efficiency and stored in high volume memory.

Step 3: Get A Quick Quotation                                                            TOP

The final step to improved magnetometer / gradiometer performance is to contact GEM Systems for a quotation.

We’ll spend some time discussing your particular application and recommend the solution that optimizes price and performance.

You can relax knowing all GEM Systems products are backed by the strongest warranty in the business.

For the fastest service, please call one of our technical representatives at +1-905-764-8008, or click here to fill in a short quotation form and we’ll contact you to discuss your situation.
