GEMLinkW is a Windows based utility for use with all GEM Systems magnetometers / gradiometers. GEMLinkW communicates bi-directionally with the magnetometer through a serial port (USB to RS232 adaptor provided with every unit sold) at the selected baud rate. Bit rates up to 115200bps are supported and the ASCII download data is displayed in real time on the computer screen.
GEMLinkW features include:
GEMLinkW has recently been upgraded to .net platform and the most important additions are a plotting utility which graphs profiles of magnetic data and a Geographic Coordinates conversion tool that converts between Geodetic (Latitude and Longitude) to UTM coordinate systems. It fixed bugs in previous version and gives smooth and reliable data downloading with flow control option.

One of the ways in which GEM saves you time and money is by providing Internet-based upgrades to firmware via the GEMLinkW utility. Some of the advantages include:
1. You do not have to ship your system to GEM when new features become available – we e-mail you a source file that will upgrade your system firmware with the latest features.
2. You can add additional features when and where you want. For example, if you have GPS time synchronization, you can add lane guidance from the field or you can add walking mode to a Proton Magnetometer. For more information, contact GEM.
Firmware (i.e. instrument software) upgrades are shipped as source file attachments to emails. For details on how to install and use these files, click here.
For users who are running DOS on their computers, GEMLink is a simple RS-232 DOS utility shipped with all GSM-19 ground systems. GEMLink works like a bi-directional terminal that can grab COM1 or COM2 from DOS. Keystrokes are sent to the instrument, and data can be downloaded, saved, and displayed in ASCII or numerical format. Bit rates up to 115200bps are supported.
Make sure you have the latest version (5.6). GEMLink displays its version number at the bottom of the screen when started.
